Welcome, my name is Rania Majied!

Who am I?

As a dedicated and passionate student at the University of Illinois Chicago, I am pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Information and Decision Science, and set to graduate in December 2025. My journey in technology began at Moraine Valley Community College, where I earned an Associate's degree in General Studies and Fine Arts.

After I transferred to UIC, I had the privilege of interning at Christopher B. Burke Engineering, where I developed a web application to streamline project management using Python Flask, MySQL, and SQLite. My experience extends beyond technical skills to include effective communication and collaboration, honed through my role as a waitress at Texas Roadhouse and as a research assistant through my school’s CURA program, where I contributed to academic research regarding linguistics.

I am enthusiastic about applying my skills to real-world challenges, demonstrated by my personal projects. This includes analyzing popular fashion designers for the summer and learning how to utilize AI for stock price analysis. This led me to become proficient in Python, Java, and MySQL, leading me to have a keen interest in financial trends, investing, and the intersection of fashion and technology.

In addition to my technical pursuits, I am certified by the American Heart Association in CPR and First Aid, as well as being an active volunteer at P.A.W.S of Tinley Park. I always aim to give back and help others in any way I can.

My goal is to leverage my interdisciplinary education and diverse experiences to make meaningful contributions to the tech industry and one day drive innovative solutions in sustainable fashion.

Work

During my internship at Christopher B. Burke Engineering (Spring 2023), I had the opportunity to significantly contribute to the development and enhancement of a web application designed to improve project management efficiency. Utilizing technologies such as Python Flask, MySQL, and SQLite, I worked to integrate geolocation features using the HERE Maps API, which allowed engineers to visualize and manage project data across various locations in the Chicago area. This experience, gained through the Break Through Tech's Sprinternship initiative, involved receiving mentorship from industry professionals and actively participating in a project crucial to optimizing operational workflows at CBBEL.

Currently, I am working as a waitress at Texas Roadhouse, where I deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. Managing up to four tables per shift, I consistently achieve high guest satisfaction scores by proactively upselling menu items and beverages, which has contributed to increased average check totals. My role also involves close collaboration with kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely and accurate order delivery, demonstrating my ability to maintain smooth operations and effective communication under pressure. Additionally, my experience as a fast-food crew member at Swap-O-Rama and as a CURA Research Assistant further highlights my capability to handle cash transactions accurately and contribute to academic research projects, respectively.

Lastly, I'm incredibly grateful to accept a new position as a participant in the Heartstarter AI Fellowship program. This seven-week opportunity is a significant milestone for me, allowing me to build and develop five AI projects. I am excited to apply my skills in this dynamic field and collaborate with others who share my passion for innovation. This program aligns perfectly with my career goals and aspirations, and I look forward to the growth and learning it will bring.

Personal Projects

One of my personal projects, Summer Trends Analysis, involves analyzing keyword and designer mentions from a British Vogue article on top fashion designers. I utilized Python and Matplotlib to visualize the frequency of these mentions, which provided insights into the current fashion trends, showing who were the top popualar designers this season. This project not only honed my data analysis and visualization skills but also gave me a deeper understanding of trend analysis in the fashion industry.

Another significant project is NVDA Stock Analysis, where I was learning how to develop a machine learning model using Random Forest Regression. This heleped me analyze Nvidia (NVDA) stock prices based on historical data. I employed Plotly for interactive visualizations, enhancing the analysis of stock trends and patterns. This project allowed me to apply machine learning techniques to real-world financial data and improve my proficiency in model development and data visualization.
